I feel happy when I remember my manners.
“Please” and “thank you” make people smile!
When did you remember your manners?
~excerpt from Book Three of the I Feel Happy series of Children’s picture books
Why does saying “please” and “thank you” make us happy?
When we say “please” and “thank you” it is as if we are saying, “I see this good thing that you’re offering me. I see it, I accept it, and I thank you for it.”
Saying yes to a gift, whether it is a valuable piece of jewelry or a used piece of clothing you don’t want (but maybe need) makes everyone feel happy.
We get to feel good because we allowed something good into our life, and they get to feel good because we graciously accepted their gift and acknowledged their kind act.
It’s easy to remember your manners once you see how good it feels to use them, and how happy they make others.
